Joe is a Texas native with a career that spans over more than 30 years in the music and entertainment industry. His resume canvasses artist management (managing artists on major labels including BMG, BNA, RCA, Sony, Universal and Warner Nashville), concert and tour promotion, video and television, and executive producer in music recording and television projects.
Joe attributes his introduction into the inner circle of the country music business to his mentor, Ken Ritter. (Ken is the nephew of country legend, Tex Ritter the singing Cowboy and former Mayor of Beaumont, TX who worked with some of the biggest talents to come out of Southeast Texas such as George Jones, Johnny and Edgar Winter, The Big Bopper, Issac Payton Sweat and many more.) With Ken’s guidance, Joe grew from being a part-time local concert promoter to managing multi-platinum acts.
Joe was instrumental in developing and managing the career of Tracy Byrd, and the early careers of Clay Walker, Doug Supernaw, Billy Currington, Brad Martin, Rhett Atkins, Wynn Varble and Canadian recording artist Gil Grand. Currently on the Carter & Co. artist management roster are rising artists Matt Castillo and Wynn Williams. Joe co-manages Willam Michael Morgan and the new country duo Heartwreckers alongside partner Mike Taliaferro.
Throughout his career, Joe cultivated relationships with songwriters who shared the same vision and love for country music (including Buddy Brock, Mike Geiger, Byron Hill, Donny Kees, Bud Lee, Earl Lee and Wynn Varble along with native Texans Mark Nesler and David Lee). Carter & Company clients have been inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame; his acts have performed, and continue to perform, all over the world on stages at small-town fairs and festivals, arenas and The White House.
